I’m sitting at the Olympics award ceremony not paying attention. All a sudden I hear my name called. This is my story of how I became successful….. Gardner, Kansas 2012 12:00 PM the phone rings. Marcos and I answer the phone. “Hello.” I said. Marcos said “Who is it”? “It’s the Olympics.” I said. “They want us to go to the trials in Phoenix!” I hung up the phone. I yelled to my family “Pack your bags where headed to Phoenix!” “Mom!” I yelled “We’re headed to KCI with dad”
Here we are Phoenix, Arizona. “Let’s go try out” When we got to the trails all you could hear was bang bang bang . Marcos’ total amount for shooting was 47. Mine was 45. {That’s pretty good} We went back to home waiting for a call. I was about to fall asleep when I heard an rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggg. “That’s them”! I yelled to Marcos. This is the voice I heard “Congratulations you are headed to the Olympics Anthony Deters and Marcos Aleman.” “Yes” we yelled. We are going to the 30th Olympics as the youngest in shooting sports! We flew into Bangor; Maine when we found out our flight to London got canceled. We got on the plane to London and it was 1:00 our time, 11:00 USA time at London. The Olympics start in two days and we had no sleep.

Its two days later. It’s the first day of shooting! I yelled in the hotel room. Two hours later. We already beat Great Britain 95 to 71 along with Ethiopia 54 to 98, Italy 87, 99 and Mexico 95,100. We made it to the semifinals with China, Sweden, USA, and France. Sweden beat China 55, 69. And we beat France 100, 59. We played Sweden and it was close 98, 99. “Yes!” We screamed at the top of our lungs. All the USA fans in the stands were going crazy. We got our medal and our record. I can remember this day forever. After the Olympics, my family toured the whole continent of Europe. When we finally got back to Kansas, my mom got me a surprise for getting gold, a new 2012 Charger. I can remember these days forever. But there’s no way I can break my own record.
